Learned from Lyrics

The English Grammar

The Beatles (Lennon&McCartney): With the Little Help from My Friends

“What would you do if I sang out of tune?”

The use of conditional with the if-clause.

When I studied English grammar for an English exam I used to take examples from songs sung in English. It was easier to remember when I put the rules into a context I was familiar with.

I think I have to point out that in Finnish language in the example given the both verb structures would be in conditional “Mitä tekisit, jos laulaisin nuotin vierestä?. In Finnish language, “daddy” is always there in conditional. [Father = isä, daddy = isi]

Vocabulary& pronunciation

It goes without saying that more you listen, the more you understand. Of course it depends on the genre what kind of vocabulary can be learned.

Geography

Never heard of Juan-les-Pins before I listened Peter Sarsted’s “Where Do You Go (My Lovely)?”.  Now that I know where it is I’d like to travel there. Like on this very moment.
